Tactical urban Interventions and mobility infrastructure during covid-19

SHEEBA AMIR 09-Nov-2021

To slow the spread of the covid-19, cities all over the world implemented innovative tactical interventions. Provision of emergency bicycle infrastructure termed Corona Lanes is an example of low-cost high-impact Tactical Urbanism by cities. Some of these short-term mitigation strategies could help in advancing long term benefits like social equity, environmental sustainability and citizen’s well-being. By upscaling and replicating these interventions in a post-pandemic world we have an opportunity to recalibrating our resource towards the improvement of the liveability of the city.

The essay discusses the tactical interventions by public authorities in adapting mobility infrastructure to reduce the risks concerning covid-19.
