This issue of My Liveable City emphasizes topics related to Climate Change. How and why is Climate Change hitting the most vulnerable the hardest? How can technology contribute in some ways to alleviate emergent problems? How can art play a significant role in this regard? The combined narrative of this issue also remind us why technical solutions alone will not lead us out of this impending crisis; why the real underlying cause of Climate Change is the exploitation of animals, planetary resources and fellow humans; and why real roots of this crisis lie in overconsumption and inequality fuelled by a capitalistic system of global trade. The solutions in some of the articles in this issue may hopefully buy us some time so that we can come to grips with the larger issue of environmental discrimination and exploitation. An article by Anita Patil Deshmukh explains how Climate Change is hitting the most vulnerable the hardest. Articles by John Jung and an interview with Ashley Hall demonstrate how technology can contribute in some ways to alleviate the problems. An article on Ijssel biennale shows how art can play a significant role in this regard.
